Sondra Robertson

Sondra Teer Robertson was born September 8, 1935 in Durham NC, the daughter of Nello LeGuy Teer Jr and Dorothy Foster Teer. She died peacefully in her home on Saturday January 14th 2023. She is survived by her children and their families; Chase Robertson Hawk (husband Steven), of Wilmington, NC; Page Albright Robertson (wife Anne Marie ‘Sissy’) of Wilmington, NC; Marcus Teer Benson of Wilmington NC, and Ellis Robertson Yost (husband Mike) of Greenville, SC; and Reece Robertson, Jr of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexandra Chase Gorham of Charleston, SC and Reece Rhoderick Hawk of Wilmington, NC; Ann Moore Robertson of Nashville TN; Ashley Marie Priddy of Winston Salem, NC and David James Priddy, Wilmington, NC; Benjamin Atticus Benson (son of predeceased Tre Benson) of Wilmington, NC, Pressly Yost Roberts and her husband Nathan (Great granddaughter Emmalynn Jane) of Greenville, SC and Kathleen Michael Yost of Greenville, SC. As the oldest, she is also survived by her siblings and their families; sister Dorothy Foster Teer of Durham, NC and her children Charity Scribner (Harlan Protass and children Meret and Simon) of New York City, NY; Anna Bennett and son Asher of New York City, NY, and Stephan Snider (wife Christina) of Oakland, CA. Sister in law Janet Couch Teer (predeceased brother Nello L Teer III) of Chapel Hill, NC and children Chase Teer Lowe (husband Doug) of Chapel Hill, NC and Nello L Teer IV (wife Kate) Atlanta, Ga; brother Michael Page Teer (wife Joan Emerson) of Wilmington, NC and their children Michael Teer Jr (wife Lillian Smith and children Emmie and Lillian) of Wilmington, NC, Emerson Teer (wife Alison Lukes and children Pierson and Wilshire) of Alexandria Va, and John Teer of Durham, NC. Sondra graduated from The Baldwin School in Byrn Maur, PA and attended Duke University. She graduated from UNCW Nursing school in 1980 and Parish Nursing program at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Her passion was helping others and sharing her love of Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday school to all age groups for many years and led a Campaigners Christian group for teens. She worked as registered nurse at New Hanover Regional and Cape Fear Hospital and later found her love in Geriatric Care management and as a Hospice Nurse. She served on the first board of Lower Cape Fear Hospice and created the Festival of Trees as funding source for Cape Fear Hospice that continues today. She served on the board of NHRMC and founding board of NHRMC foundation and the CHIPS Board under NHRMC. She served on many other various church and community boards and committees. She grew up riding horses and on the show circuit for many years as a teen from Madison Square Gardens, NY to Lexington, KY. She was a 5-gaited world champion on Dee Dee Tee and Reserve World Champion on Rainbow Sensation. She enjoyed fox hunting while in Byrn Maur, PA, Middleburg ,VA and Facquier , VA. Sondra’s love of animals grew over the years as she rescued many animals of all kinds, dogs, cats, horses, rats, parrot, raccoons, squirrels, biddies and ducks and loved them as her own. She loved telling her animal stories focusing on the bonds between humans and animals. She started writing a series of her animal reflections in recent years that her children hope to finish and share in her honor. As a founding member of Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, she has shared a special love of the Lord with many at the church and all the loving members of Circle #5. She loved helping others and people in need. She touched many lives and shared her faith with others until her very last day. Sondra was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Reece Albright Robertson, her son Robert (Tre) Jackson Benson III, and her brother Nello L Teer III.
