Brian Patrick Corrigan

On Wednesday, June 28th 2023, Brian Patrick Corrigan stepped into heaven to be with Jesus at the young age of 51 years old, after a 5 year battle with cancer. There was much life left to be lived, but the impact he made on his loved ones and community is unforgettable. He is survived by his wife and best friend Emily, daughter Megan, parents Patrick & Charlotte, sisters Tricia and Laurie, and dogs Molly and Lulu. Brian grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1991. He then attended the University of Toledo in 1996, earning a Bachelor of Education. After graduating, he was a science teacher and track coach at Coventry High School in Akron, Ohio for a year. He moved to Maine in 1997, where he was a science teacher and basketball coach at Deer Isle-Stonington High School for 3 years, and at Sumner Memorial High School for 7 years. He then became the principal at Searsport District Middle School for 4 years. During his time in Maine he obtained a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Maine. In 2008, he moved to Wilmington, NC and was the director at Cape Fear Center for Inquiry for 4 years. In 2013, he helped found Island Montessori Charter School and was the Head of School from 2013 to 2020. From 2020 to 2023, he was the Director of Financial Operations. Brian was a faithful and loving husband to Emily. They spent as much time as they could together. They took several trips up the coast of Virginia, and North and South Carolina on their sailboat “Elizabeth.” Throughout Megan’s life, Brian was always there for her. He never wanted to miss any of her swim meets and tennis matches. He was able to achieve his goal of seeing Megan graduate from Hoggard High School and go on to attend NC State University. Brian was loyal, fun loving, and had a strong commitment to Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He had a passion for sailing and hunting. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl. Brian’s Celebration of Life service will be held at Port City Community Church, 250 Vision Drive, Wilmington, NC, on Wednesday, July 5th, at 11:00am.
